Much as we hate to admit, the nights are certainly drawing in. But don’t forget, that’s not necessarily a bad thing – autumn heralds the start of cosy nights on the sofa in front of a roaring warm fire… bliss!

We’re unsure if there’s anything better in the world than that and even if you currently don’t have a fire, it’s not too late to get a piece of the action. Here at Manor House, we have a range of gas, electric and coal fireplaces to suit your taste and your home – but how do you choose which one?

Gas, electric or coal?

Open fireplaceThis will depend on your personal preference and the type of chimney you have. To have a solid fuel fire or stove you must have a brick chimney, anything else and you will have to go for a gas or electric option – give us a call if you’re concerned.

Coal or solid fuel fires also take a lot of maintenance. This is fine if you don’t mind it, but for some the idea of getting your chimney swept regularly, cleaning up after a fire and building a new one each time can be too much. If you don’t believe the homeliness of a crackling fire outweighs the maintenance required, go for a different type of fire.

If you have no flue or chimney, you must be careful in choosing either a flueless gas or an electric fire. We have both on offer, so don’t worry, and we have some beautiful options available to suit your taste so you won’t miss out.
